Mondo
Penrith City Council, 2018
The theme of pixilation was developed to help drive the design of a modular suite of furniture and the art panels that are fixed to various seating modules. Pixelate responds to the multifaceted aspects of the city and diversity of its people that each – like a pixel – make the larger picture become complete.
Positioned between the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Westfield Penrith and the Penrith Library and Council Chambers – the public open space, known as Mondo, entertains a high volume of pedestrian traffic in the heart of Penrith.
Working alongside OCULUS Landscape Architects, ARTSCAPE and the team undertook analysis of the key user groups during the design of the open space and street furniture that could cater for all.

ARTSCAPE explored and developed graphics and motifs to assist the place-branding process, and contributed to the composition of elements in the space.
The colour pop and illumination of the art panels encourages a safe and hospitable environment – particularly for the youth population who frequent the space in the evening.
