Lane Cove Signage

Lane Cove Council NSW, 2010 - 2021

The vast network of bush trails and parks and reserves of Lane Cove are neatly complemented with a user-friendly signage and wayfinding system.

ARTSCAPE has been working with Lane Cove Council to deliver a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system for their parks, reserves and vast network of bushwalk trails.

The project started some 12 years ago developing a comprehensive strategy, and continues today as new public spaces, playgrounds and trails are implemented by Council.

ARTSCAPE's role, as lead graphic and industrial designers, is to maintain consistency as new signage typologies, cultural trails, memorials and interpretive elements are rolled out. And weave these into the signage and wayfinding strategy.

Various graphic challenges included ensuring consistency across Council’s web and print-based mediums and development of a user-friendly icon system for various bushwalking trails – some of which feed into, or are part of, Harbour Circle Walks and the Harbour to Great North Walk.

ARTSCAPE collaborated with Damian Simpkins (Graphic Designer) to establish the graphic style, which integrates the complexity of the system into a simple and easy to navigate format.
