Greater Bendigo Public Art
Policy and Plan

City of Greater Bendigo, 2023

Greater Bendigo will embrace public art and recognise its valuable role in the region’s identity, economy, the health and wellbeing of its people and its sustainable future.

The region will embrace design excellence, demanding the best in art and design outcomes – to show the world that Greater Bendigo are leaders in creativity and express its stories and culture with pride.

Extract from the Public Art Vision for Greater Bendigo

The Greater Bendigo Public Art Policy and Plan 2023–2033 aims to provide the Greater Bendigo community, Council and its partners with clear direction in the planning, creation and maintenance of public art.

The documents are currently being developed following a review of relevant Federal, State and Local government policy, analysis of existing public art, the undertaking of a public art audit, engagement with the community and key stakeholders and the identification of changes needed within Council to provide a system to support the creation of public art projects.

The Policy and Plan sets out areas for action and a framework to guide the work.
